Recovery Housing

New Hope Rising Recovery Housing

New Hope Rising Recovery Housing is more than a place to live—it is a safe, structured, and supportive recovery community where men and women rebuild their lives through connection, accountability, purpose, and hope.

NHR homes are centrally located to 12-Step meetings, employment opportunities, and public transportation, creating a strong foundation for long-term success.

As a nonprofit organization serving Suffolk County, New York, we provide safe, supportive recovery housing designed to help individuals build a strong foundation for long-term recovery while creating meaningful lives in their communities.

Our innovative four-phase recovery model has become a recognized leader in recovery housing on Long Island because we offer a higher level of individualized care, support, accountability, and community.

We believe recovery is about more than abstinence. It is about healing the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—while developing the skills, relationships, and confidence needed to thrive.

The New Hope Rising Difference

More Than Housing — A Recovery Community

Many sober homes provide a place to stay. We provide a community to belong to. From day one, you are surrounded by:

  • People actively working recovery
  • A built-in support system
  • A culture of connection, encouragement, and accountability

You are not just living here—you are growing here. When you walk through the doors of New Hope Rising, you become part of something bigger than yourself. You become part of a vibrant recovery community built on connection, fellowship, accountability, and shared purpose. From your very first day, you are surrounded by people who understand the value of recovery and are committed to supporting one another in building meaningful, fulfilling lives.

At New Hope Rising, recovery is not lived in isolation. It is experienced through shared meals, community dinners, 12-Step fellowship, wellness activities, celebrations, service opportunities, and the everyday moments that create lasting bonds. Residents quickly discover that they are not simply living in a recovery house—they are becoming part of a recovery family.

The strength of New Hope Rising extends far beyond the walls of our homes. Through connections with alumni, sponsors, peer supports, local recovery fellowships, and the broader recovery community, residents develop a network of support that continues long after they leave our program. These relationships often become lifelong sources of encouragement, accountability, friendship, and inspiration.

The Ripple Effect

One Recovery Changes Many Lives

We believe recovery creates a ripple effect. As individuals grow in recovery, families begin to heal, relationships are restored, children regain healthy role models, and communities become stronger. One person's recovery has the power to positively impact countless lives.

At New Hope Rising, we witness that ripple effect every day. Recovery is not just about changing one life—it is about creating a community where hope grows, connections deepen, and people discover that together, anything is possible.

A Working Recovery House

Already employed? Already in school? That's okay.

New Hope Rising is designed to support individuals who are working, attending school, or actively pursuing their goals while building a strong recovery foundation.

At New Hope Rising, we recognize that recovery and responsibility often go hand in hand. For residents who are working, attending school, or managing other responsibilities, our recovery housing provides the structure and flexibility needed to maintain those commitments while continuing to strengthen their recovery foundation.

We believe meaningful employment, education, volunteerism, and community involvement help foster confidence, independence, purpose, and long-term success in recovery. Whether someone enters our program employed, enrolled in school, or just beginning to rebuild, we meet them where they are and help them move forward.

A Foundation Built on Recovery

The New Hope Rising Four-Phase Recovery Model

At New Hope Rising, our four-phase recovery model is rooted in the principles of 12-Step recovery and personal growth. Each phase is designed to provide the structure, support, accountability, and community needed to help residents build a strong foundation and continue growing in their recovery journey.

Recovery is a process, not an event. Just as a seed needs the right environment to take root and flourish, individuals need a safe, supportive, and sober environment where they can focus on the important inner work of recovery. Through active participation in the 12-Step process, fellowship, sponsorship, service, and personal goal development, residents are given the opportunity to grow at their own pace while being supported by a strong recovery community.

As residents progress through each phase, they experience increased independence and responsibility while continuing to strengthen their recovery foundation. The phases are not simply milestones—they represent personal growth, spiritual development, and a deeper commitment to living a life grounded in recovery.

Our goal is to provide the environment, support, and community that allow each resident to plant the seeds of recovery and watch them grow into a life filled with purpose, connection, freedom, and possibility.

Orientation Phase

Planting the Seeds of Recovery

The Orientation Phase is designed to help residents become grounded in recovery, connected to the New Hope Rising community, and focused on building a strong foundation for long-term success. During this time, residents begin developing healthy routines, building a recovery support network, engaging in daily fellowship, obtaining a sponsor, and creating an Individualized Recovery Plan. Like planting a seed, this phase creates the environment needed for growth. With the support of peers, staff, sponsorship, and the 12-Step process, residents begin laying the foundation for a life rooted in recovery, connection, and possibility.

Building Momentum in Recovery

Residents continue strengthening the foundation established during Orientation by actively working with a sponsor, engaging in the 12-Step process, identifying personal goals, and beginning preparations for employment, education, or volunteer opportunities. Recovery remains the priority while confidence, responsibility, and purpose begin to grow.

Phase 3

Strengthening Stability & Purpose

Recovery begins to extend into all areas of life. Residents focus on maintaining the progress they have achieved while continuing to grow spiritually, emotionally, and professionally. Through ongoing step work, service, employment, education, and community involvement, residents develop the skills necessary to sustain long-term recovery and independence.

Living Recovery & Preparing for the Future

The final phase focuses on maintaining balance, strengthening recovery supports, preparing for independent living, and creating a vision for the future. Residents continue active participation in the 12-Step process while planning for permanent housing, long-term goals, family relationships, and continued involvement in the recovery community. Recovery is no longer simply something they practice—it has become a way of life.

Recovery Grows Here. Every resident's journey is unique, and there is no set timeline for growth. When individuals are provided with a safe environment, a strong recovery community, meaningful support, and the opportunity to do the inner work of recovery, incredible transformation is possible. The seeds planted today become the foundation for a future filled with purpose, connection, service, and lasting recovery.

Healing Through Service

New Hope Rising partners with local animal shelters to foster dogs awaiting adoption. This program creates powerful opportunities for healing, compassion, and responsibility. Residents witness the transformative power of resilience in both themselves and the animals they care for.

Animals offer unconditional acceptance, and this experience often becomes one of the most meaningful aspects of recovery.

"Sometimes helping another life heal becomes part of your own healing journey."

Building trust, confidence, self-awareness, and emotional growth through equine experiences.

At New Hope Rising, recovery is about healing the mind, body, and spirit. Through Equine Workshops, residents build trust, self-awareness, confidence, and emotional resilience while working alongside horses—animals known for their intuition and ability to mirror human emotions. These powerful experiences encourage residents to step outside their comfort zones, reconnect with themselves and others, and strengthen coping skills in recovery.

Equine Workshops offer a meaningful path toward healing, connection, and hope, reminding us that recovery, like trust, is built one step at a time.
